Car Insurance GMC (Car Insurance). How do I repair my pull rope ?How do I repair my pull rope ? I was pulling it to start my lawn mower and it broke Sounds like wierd Willy has had the assembly come apart before on him as have I. You just go to a store that sells mowers and parts and there on the shelf will be a selection of replacement pull cords. Buy one and then go install it on the engine by taking off the cover that houses the pull cord assembly, then you will have to fish in a new cord and wind the return spring back up and then hold it in place while sitting the whole assembly back on top of the engine and then bolt the cover back on. Not too hard really harder than it sounds but once you have done one you will be a pro the next time. Like willy said don't let it house of cards on you and fall apart because getting that return spring and assembly back together is a real bear, good luck! u pull off the cover...then remove the spool and install a NEW pull rope...they sell replacement pull ropes at any hardware store....also most auto parts stores have them for push lawnmowers as well... Unless its a classic or antique and parts are no longer available for them, its much easier to just buy the recoil assembly. there relatively cheap. if you've never done one you don't want to if you don't have to. basically you have to wind the spool and fish the new rope in, Do Not Take The Assembly Apart, if you do and the spring comes out you'll go mad trying to get it back together. you replace it. just unbolt that part and take it to your work bench. unbolt the spool from the cover, remove the old rope and put new rope in its place. wrap it around a few times and then stick the end through the cover. out the spool back, being careful to engage the return spring properly and give it a try. once your certain its working properly, tie on the pull handle with just abit of rope pulled out so the spring keeps it wound fully in and cut off the excess. GMC . How to Get Rust Off an ExhaustA rusty exhaust is not only unattractive, but can also lead to holes in the system. Prevention means getting off any rust that appears when it happens. This project should take about 30 minutes. Difficulty:Easy Instructions Things You'll Need Wire brush Spray rust converter Jack Jack stands Step by Step : 1 Lift the vehicle in the air using the jack and secure the vehicle on jack stands. Make sure the vehicle is secure before crawling underneath it. 2 Locate the rusted area. This may be the entire exhaust, so start at the front of the vehicle and work your way backward. 3 Scrape the rust off of the exhaust using the wire brush. Remove as much rust scale on the exhaust as possible. 4 Spray the exhaust with a high-temperature heat paint such as VHT's Flameproof coating listed in the references, once all of the rust is gone. If there is still some rust, skip this step and move on to step 5. 5 Spray the exhaust with a rust converter spray such as VHT's Rust Converter spray. This will stop any rust from getting worse.
GMC . How to Measure for a Caravan AwningA caravan awning is a good camping addition, as it can, essentially, expand the size of your RV. Caravans come in many sizes, and you'll need to take careful measurements or your vehicle's A-frame to determine the correct size awning for your needs. Difficulty:Moderately Easy Instructions Things You'll Need String Measuring tape Step by Step : 1 Make sure your caravan is parked on level ground. If it has a single axle, it must be balanced on its jack stands or wheels so it isn't swaying back and forth on that axle. 2 Place the end of a long piece of string on the ground right where the front of the caravan meets the side. Run this string all the way along the top edge of the caravan from the front to the rear, stopping the string on the ground below the caravan's rear. Cut the string where it meets the ground. 3 Lay the string on the ground and measure its length with a measuring tape. This measurement can range from more than 6 meters (22 feet) to nearly 12 meters (39 feet). You may need to measure once, mark the string where your measuring tape ends and then start measuring again from that mark. 4 Be sure to take your measurement with you when you shop for your caravan awning. A sales associate can help you match an awning to your vehicle based on this measurement. 5 Purchase a larger awning if your measurement is on the border between two different awning sizes. A 10-foot awning is fits a caravan measuring between 686 centimeters (22½ feet) and 716 centimeters (23½ feet). If your measurement is 716 centimeters, get an 11-foot awning. *Remoitinq a hubcap If you have an older car that still has hubcaps (instead of the wheel covers on more recent models), the first task in changing a tire — after you pull to the side of the road and finish banging the heel of your hand against the steering wheel in frustration — is to remove the hubcap of the injured tire. The following steps tell you how: 1. Use a screwdriver or the flat end of a lug wrench (see Figure 2-20 in Chapter 2) to pry off the hubcap. Just insert the point of the tool where the edge of the cap meets the wheel, and apply a little leverage (see Figure 1-3). The cap should pop off. You may have to do this in a couple of places; it's like prying the lid off a can of paint. . Chapter 1: Things Every Driver Should Know O 1 Figure 1-3: You can use a screwdriver to pry a hubcap loose. 2. Lay the cap on its back so that you can put the lug nuts into it to keep them from rolling away and heading for the nearest sewer. After you remove the hubcap, the next task is to loosen the lug nuts. Loosening the tug nuts 127

Most garages retighten them with a power tool, and unless you've done the job yourself by hand, they're going to be pretty hard to loosen. (Take my advice in Chapter 2 and buy a cross-shaft lug wrench. Figure 2-20 shows what one looks like.) Before you begin, you have to ascertain whether the lug nuts on the wheel you're working on are right-hand threaded or left-hand threaded. This isn't a "left-handed hammer" joke; the threads determine which way you turn the wrench. The lug nuts on the right side of a vehicle are always right-hand threaded, but the nuts on the left side may be left-hand threaded. Look at the lug nuts on your car; in the center of the lugs you should see an R, an L, or no letter at all: I V A lug with an R or with no letter is right-threaded. Turn it counterclockwise to loosen it. GMC . How to Check codes on 92 Tracker?
Chevrolet Lumina APV. * V A lugs with an L is left-threaded. Turn it clockwise to loosen it. For the purposes of sanity, I'll assume that your car has right-threaded nuts. If you have a couple of lefties, just turn the wrench in the opposite direction as you follow these steps to loosen the lug nuts: 1. Find the end of the wrench that fits the lug nuts on your car, and fit it onto the first nut. Part I: Getting Started. Always work on lug nuts in rotation. That way, you won't forget to tighten any later. 2. Apply all your weight to the bar on the left. This starts turning the nut counterclockwise, which loosens it. If the nut has been put on with a power tool and you can't get it started, a piece of hollow pipe, fitted over that left-hand arm of the cross-shaft wrench, magically adds enough leverage to start the nut easily (see Figure 1-4). After you replace the nut yourself, this aid is no longer necessary. But remember, the longer the arms on your lug wrench, the more leverage you have. Figure 1-4: GMC . Don't remove the lug nuts completely; just get them loose enough so that you can remove them by hand after raising the car (a feat explained in an earlier section of this chapter, "The Safe Way to Use a Jack"). Changing the tire Once the vehicle is safely jacked up and the lug nuts are off, follow these instructions to change the tire: 1. Remove the spare from the trunk if you haven't already done so. Actually, it's easier to do this before jacking up the car. If you haven't checked your spare recently, keep your fingers crossed that it has enough air in it! Roll the spare to the scene of the action. 2. Grasp the flat tire with both hands and pull it toward you. The flat tire sits on the exposed bolts that the lug nuts screwed onto. As you pull the flat off, it should slide along the bolts until, suddenly, it . Chapter 1: Things Every Driver Should Know O 2 GMC .
